Mohican Trail 100
He's done it - Mike has just finished the Mohican Trail 100, a grueling 100-mile run in Loudonville (Ohio).
THE NEXT EVENT

The Race4innocence Continues!

Running across the Sahara desert, biking across Death Valley, running 100 miles… so what’s next?

Swimming, of course. This summer Mike will swim 22 kilometers across the Strait of Gibraltar, from Morocco to Spain.

For Mike, it's just another part of his Race4Innocence to raise awareness of the problems of child pornography on the internet, and to raise enough funds to fight this evil by shutting down 21,280 websites and saving 21,280 children.

Thank you for your support for this cause!

THE TEAM
The guy taking on the grueling 1228 kilometres: Mike DeNoma

Mike is a board director at Standard Chartered Bank. He is 49 and lives in Singapore with his wife and six – yes, that's SIX - children. As a father, Mike, better than anyone, understands the kind of love and protection his children need. He understands the importance of having a secure environment for his children to learn and grow in safety.

"This is a difficult subject to talk about and even harder to deal with, but our children trust us to provide a haven of protection and love."

"The demand and ease of accessibility to the amount of child pornography today is disturbing. What inspires me to keep going is the fact that, with very little money, we can help locate missing children and save them from evil. The temporary pain and fatigue I experience during the race is a small price to pay to save a child's innocence."

Tan Ying Hsien is Group Head of Legal and Compliance, Consumer Banking at Standard Chartered Bank and is leading the effort at Standard Chartered for the Financial Coalition Against Child Pornography that is aiming to eradicate the commercial viability of child pornography on the Internet by 2008.

Ying said, "there is plenty of evil in the world and it is down to each one of us to do something about it. Child pornography is something we can do something about and I am honoured to be part of the race4innocence to raise funds and awareness around the problem."

"Financial institutions can play a lead role in stopping child porn on the Internet from being commercially viable by cutting off the payment at the source so these websites cannot profit from the terrible images that they portray. Doing these six marathons in six months will help me get the message out to other financial institutions so together we can do something about it."

The strategy coach: Dominic Barton

Dominic is a director at McKinsey & Company and is keenly aware that finishing each of these races is going to take the right strategy - how much water to carry, what speed to travel, what shoes to wear in the desert (all that sand can cause problems if it gets into your shoes)...there are many critical elements to consider finishing the race. Dominic's advice to mike - leave no stone unturned.

The survivor coach: Ernie Allen

Doing these races is going to take a survival instinct…you don’t want to take a wrong turn in the desert. Stay focused on the goal is Ernie’s advice to Mike.

The head coach: Brendon Downey

Olympic Triathlon Coach Brendon has completed the Ironman six times and, from his base in Australia, is helping Mike keep to his regular schedule of training moderately, consistently and specifically so that he's ready for each of the races. Visit Brendon's website for smart training advice: www.endurancecoach.com

The motivator: Jolene Chen

Jolene, who runs Mike’s human resources at Standard Chartered, is a non-runner, but that hasn’t stopped her motivating and continuously encouraging Mike to go the distance.

The run coach: Henry Wanyoike

Henry is adamant that Mike can’t just go through the motions – if you do that you’ll never make it to the end! You’ve got to love the moment, he advises.

The bike coach: Brent Sheldrake

Brent is determined that Mike pushes himself to the limit, after all the Furnace508 is the toughest race on the bike.

The PR guru: Ai Kwei

Well experienced in getting the Greatest Race on Earth off the ground and working on marathon PR, Ai Kwei is making sure the noise about Mike – and Race4innocence – is heard in all the right places.

The web team: Michelle, Angus, Nigel, FundraiseOnline and the team from Agenda

Kudos to Michelle, Angus, Nigel, FundraiseOnline and the Agenda team for the work they did to ensure the site was up and running.
